Professional Analysis, Inc. (PAI) is seeking an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer – LPD Class Ship Design to support Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) located at the Navy Yard - Washington, D.C. (Contingent upon award).

The Engineer, will provide engineering support for the design, integration, and maintenance of auxiliary systems on LPD-class ships. This role involves collaborating with engineering teams and shipyards to ensure the optimal performance of auxiliary systems, including HVAC, piping, water supply, and other support systems critical to ship operations. The Engineer will also ensure that auxiliary systems meet Navy standards and comply with all operational and safety requirements.
Job Responsibilities Include:
• Auxiliary Systems Design and Integration: Provide mechanical engineering support in the design, integration, and analysis of auxiliary systems, including HVAC, piping, fresh and wastewater systems, and other shipboard support systems.
• Technical Documentation: Assist in the preparation and review of technical documentation such as design drawings, system specifications, and maintenance manuals related to auxiliary systems.
• System Performance Testing: Support the testing and validation of auxiliary systems to ensure they meet operational requirements and safety standards. Recommend adjustments or improvements based on performance testing.
• Maintenance Support: Assist in the development and refinement of maintenance plans and procedures for auxiliary systems to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
• Collaboration with Engineering Teams: Work closely with other mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to integrate auxiliary systems effectively within the ship’s design.
• Compliance with Standards: Ensure that all auxiliary system designs comply with U.S. Navy regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
• Risk and Safety Management: Participate in the identification and mitigation of risks associated with the design and operation of auxiliary systems.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience: 1-3 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably with a focus on shipboard auxiliary systems.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Skills: Knowledge of auxiliary systems such as HVAC, piping, and fluid systems. Familiarity with shipboard operations and naval standards is a plus.
• Clearance: Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
• Masters Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering
• Professional Engineer Certification
• 3 years experience of specialized experience with ship Habitability or Environmental protection systems
• Professional in appearance and conduct.
• Very detailed oriented and analytical.
