Professional Analysis, Inc. (PAI) is seeking a Jr. Mechanical Engineer – LPD Class Ship Design to support Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) located at the Navy Yard - Washington, D.C. (Contingent upon award)

The Engineer, will play a key role in supporting the design, integration, and performance of auxiliary systems aboard LPD-class ships. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure the efficient operation of HVAC, piping, fluid, and other auxiliary systems. The Engineer will also focus on compliance with Navy standards and support system maintenance and performance optimization.
Job Responsibilities Include:
• Auxiliary Systems Design: Provide mechanical engineering expertise in the design and development of shipboard auxiliary systems, including HVAC, fluid systems, piping, and fresh/wastewater systems.
• System Integration: Ensure seamless integration of auxiliary systems within the ship’s overall design by working closely with electrical, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
• Technical Documentation: Develop, review, and update technical documentation, including system specifications, installation manuals, and maintenance procedures.
• Performance Testing and Validation: Support the testing, troubleshooting, and validation of auxiliary systems to ensure compliance with operational standards and performance criteria.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all designs and systems comply with U.S. Navy safety and operational standards, including environmental regulations.
• Maintenance Support: Provide input and assist in developing maintenance strategies for auxiliary systems, focusing on increasing system reliability and extending operational life.
• Risk Assessment: Participate in risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities in auxiliary systems and propose mitigation strategies.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on shipboard auxiliary systems such as HVAC, fluid systems, and piping.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Skills: Strong understanding of shipboard auxiliary systems, including HVAC, fluid systems, and piping. Proficiency in design and analysis software, with a solid understanding of naval standards and practices.
• Clearance: Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering
• Professional Engineer Certification
• 10+ years DoD/Navy program management, Government technical or industry technical management
• 3 years’ experience with ship Auxiliary or Deck systems
• Professional in appearance and conduct.
• Very detailed oriented and analytical.
