Position Overview
PAI is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support U.S. Navy ship maintenance, modernization, technical coordination, mechanical engineering, data analysis, lifecycle planning, and shipyard execution activities at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. This position supports mechanical engineering principles, techniques, and practices related to shipboard systems, maintenance planning, modernization, configuration, and lifecycle sustainment.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide technical support in the principles, techniques and practices of mechanical engineering, electrical/electronics engineering and/or naval architecture as they relate to aircraft carrier hull, mechanical and electrical (HM&E), aviation and electronic shipboard systems.
· These tasks require extensive knowledge in the area of, but not limited to aircraft carrier maintenance philosophy, ship installation drawings, RCM principles and ship operations as well as the ability to organize data in a cohesive manner to submit finding for evaluation and action.
· Provide technical support for the development and management and refinement of the non-nuclear CMP, BAWPs and modernization for execution during CVN availabilities.
· Requires ensuring technical requirements, periodicities and associated configuration are current within each assigned CMP maintenance requirement.
· Collect, manage and analyze data, e.g., maintenance, risk, material condition, of specified systems or components based on specific criteria and submit finding for evaluation and action.
· Assist in development of life-cycle strategies for aircraft carrier distributive systems and select components.
· Develop,maintain and report metrics as required.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
· 5+ years professional experience in engineering.
· Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
· 10+ years professional experience.
· Data analytics & maintenance and modernization experience related to aircraft carriers, naval ships, or large ship design, construction, or maintenance.
Work Environment
This position is located at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and supports RCOH and maintenance availability support, shipyard coordination and execution support, mechanical engineering support during planning and execution activities, and technical coordination with shipyard personnel and Government stakeholders.
