Professional Analysis, Inc. (PAI) is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer – LPD Class Ship Design to support Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)  located at the Navy Yard - Washington, D.C. (Contingent upon award)

The Engineer, Mechanical (EM3) will be responsible for leading the design, integration, and optimization of auxiliary systems on LPD-class ships. This position requires expertise in mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, fluid systems, and other shipboard support systems. The EM3 will collaborate with engineering teams and shipbuilders to ensure that all auxiliary systems meet operational, performance, and safety standards, and are integrated effectively with other ship systems.

Job Responsibilities Include:
•  Auxiliary Systems Engineering: Lead the design and development of auxiliary systems, including HVAC, fluid management, and piping systems for LPD-class ships.
•  System Integration: Ensure the seamless integration of auxiliary systems within the broader ship design, working with electrical, mechanical, and structural engineers to optimize system layout and functionality.
•  Technical Review and Documentation: Prepare and review detailed technical documentation, including system specifications, design drawings, and maintenance manuals for auxiliary systems.
•  Testing and Validation: Oversee the testing and validation of auxiliary systems, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and Navy standards. Make recommendations for system improvements based on test results.
•  Maintenance Strategy Development: Develop maintenance strategies to enhance system reliability, reduce downtime, and ensure long-term operational efficiency.
•  Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that all auxiliary systems meet U.S. Navy safety, environmental, and operational standards, and comply with relevant regulatory requirements.
•  Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments related to the performance and reliability of auxiliary systems. Develop risk mitigation plans to address potential issues

.Required Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering 
• 15 years professional experience in Marine Engineering or relevant equivalent experience
• Specialized experience with applicable codes and standards (ABS, NVR, NFPA, etc.)
• Must be able to obtain and hold a DoD Security Clearance
 

Preferred Qualifications
• Masters Degree in Engineering Management
• 5-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, specifically with shipboard auxiliary systems such as HVAC, piping, and fluid management
• Professional Engineer Certification
• 10+ years DoD/Navy program management, Government technical or industry technical management
• 3 years experience with ship Damage Control, firefighting and fire prevention systems
• Professional in appearance and conduct.
• Very detailed oriented and analytical.
